It is Domestic Violence Awareness month and personally, knowing what I know, from having been through what I have, it disgusts me that all the do-gooders have their hands up for more $$$$$. The DV community is saying, ONCE AGAIN, that there are "ever rising incidents of violence." We are throwing our money away, a great deal of money, because the actions of law enforcement and prosecutors are local and county issues and most people have no clue what their prosecutors are doing on a day to day basis and local newspapers are driven by sales now, so they do not have the luxury of being watchdogs of our society. There have been careers made and industries grown from the misery of domestic violence victims, and the cycle continues. You can't solve a problem unless you first correctly identify the problem. At the core of it all is the corrupt justice system and the morally deficient lawyers running it, in general. Law enforcement often follows along.
Education on the issue has been going on for decades now and this quote from the DV community that there are "ever rising incidents of violence" speaks volumes, if anyone will listen. The people who can make the most difference are accountable to no one but the voters or in some cases, the people who appointed them, at the LOCAL and COUNTY levels. People need to get involved and find out what is going on right where they live. It is easier to throw money at more bureaucracies and build more dot orgs and install more government bureaucrats with their hands up ready to catch the money! It is shameful to build helping industries around not really solving the problems and it is wrong to deceive the public by not telling them they need to find out what is going on at their local and county levels. Not spin, but facts. Every time a crime victim tries to report a crime, there should be a record of it. Nope. Many crime victims today are being told they cannot even make a report, and this is true of crime in general, not just victims of DV. There is a whole group of men who are learning that all they have to do is move on to a new woman and no one will bother with them. So they abuse woman after woman after woman, and they get away with it.
Here's another thing I don't hear mentioned much: the statutes of limitations are ridiculous in this day and age. Truly. Six months on a civil rights violation? Etc, etc, etc. Have an enlightening DV awareness month this year by putting your local police and prosecutor on the hot seat about crime in general. Ask for an accounting of every call about a complaint made to their departments. Ask your prosecutor which laws he has decided he/she doesn't care to enforce. Tell your local paper you are interested in them acting like watchdogs instead of hobnobbers, lapping at the feet of local power brokers, just so they have an "in" or a stepping stone to a better job. Ask your legislators to change the statutes of limitations for criminal prosecutions, and civil suits. Ask that the stepping stone DV laws be abolished in your state, and that people be prosecuted for battery. Take the power out of the hands of victims, many of who are sick to some degree. Ask for laws which do not allow them to back out of the charges and for testimony as to why they do often want to back out to be allowed in your state, county, city. Help protect the children of these people and help prevent more victimization by demanding the steps that will really stop the violence.
Just like dealing with the homeless and feeding the poor, it is much easier to donate to someone else who claims they can and are solving the problem. If they are solving the problem then why do we hear every year and throughout the year that incidents of DV are on the increase? We can discuss the sociological theories, or we can throw money at groups that make a living off the misery. Or we can be good citizens, and ask the tough questions, and deal with the root issues. The DV community provides a great service in providing shelter, but leaving it to them to solve the core political and legal issues is NOT working. The systems become too closely intertwined as I have said on this blog before. And before you know it, the local DV community has sold out, and dependent on government and the systems they used to criticize in very loud ways. Now they often don't want to step on toes in an effective manner. They have built their own political base and hey, they need to feed their families and pay their rent too. Can we blame them? No, for it is human nature, but it won't solve the problem for the long haul.
The Assistant State's Attorney I have written against had to resign because of the case in the article linked to in this sentence. Roma Larson lied about me, about the case and her cronies protected her instead of the truth, and the crime victim, which was me. In my blog post about the lies, linked to in this sentence, I posted links to google docs. I told them she was lying and exactly what the evidence was that she had. John Schmidt's office has acted immorally and have basically blown me off. It stirs justifiable and righteous anger in me that I have been treated this way. They know that he is accused of being a con man, and allowed him to con his way out of a charge when I left in January 2009. I have even asked if Roma Larson might have tampered with the file, since she lied to protect her own butt! John Schmidt, however, is avoiding ever being accountable to the voters, for he has been appointed to Judge now (link to article within this sentence)! I have filed a lawsuit in federal court which has been moved to Illinois. A woman with PTSD, has filed a pro se suit against an abuser, in which I hope to present the evidence that the prosecutors could do so much easier than me, if they would get their own warped attitudes out of the way and simply act as the public servants they are supposed to be. Can the DV community solve the problem of the decline of true ethics within the profession trained in rationalization, the profession whose members are most likely to run for office? No, but citizens can learn that there is a problem. We hear all the time that a growing number of Americans are leery of politicians and voter turnout is low, yet nothing is changing! It is getting worse.
The number of pro se litigants is growing as attorneys continue to price themselves out of the market. They are now doing piecework just to generate some income! If you read your state's supreme court site, you might find some changing judicial standards in response to the growing number of pro se parties. I know Ohio judges have responded. We, the voters can say to our legislators that citizens should not have to have a law degree to achieve justice. The judicial branch is supposed to be serving us. Instead they have created their own little world. When DV advocates are brought into the mix, they can be used as pawns to keep a sick system growing. We cannot rely on them to make or even fight for the fundamental changes needed to actually solve the problem. They have fought to undermine due process, in order to obtain orders of protection more easily, resulting in OP Mills in some places, like the one in Sangamon County. Some of them are now fighting to undermine free speech! And they don't even realize it! That is dangerous for us all. It enables a crackpot like Nardulli to act in a despotic fashion, if he feels like it, granting a sociopath a restraining order against a victim in a court that has protected itself from scrutiny to the point of not even recording proceedings! You don't need a law degree to know that is wrong! So, why don't the lawyers in Illinois do something about it? Lawyers are not trained to protect the constitution. We can't expect them to. That is not their job when representing clients. I would venture to say that many of them do not even realize they violate some of the rights of their clients every single day, when they are "practicing" law. It is up to us to acquire a deep understanding of our rights as Americans, to demand for them to remain, and to teach our children not to squander them.
To view some of the police reports made against Mr. West, look
under "Links Worth Clicking" in the left column of this blog. I haven't
yet posted all I have in my possession.
Also, he was a self-proclaimed hobo who lived in every state but Hawaii
for about ten years so there are likely other police reports and
marriages out there.
I also want to add that police reports should be public information
everywhere. I ran into the differences amongst jurisdiction when I
requested police reports involving Mr. West as the alleged perp in S.
Lake Tahoe California, Sioux Falls, SD. I had to send subpoenas.
Redaction policies differ too. When people can commit crimes and simply
move to another state, within the United States without consequence and
it leads to more victimization, something is wrong. That shouldn't be
the case in this modern information age. When the Springfield Police
did a background check, Mr. West's warrant out of S. Dakota from his
indictment there didn't even show up!
of the people discussed on this blog are or have been supposed
directors of what have been purported to be charitable foundations, The
Myria Foundation, and The Encyclopedia Foundation, and so are public
figures subject to public scrutiny of their character. I was a duped
into becoming involved, first as a "director" of The Encyclopedia
Foundation and then as a "Founding Director" of The Myria Foundation,
which I co-created, verifiable with the Illinois Secretary of State's
office. I paid to incorporate The Myria Foundation and I have a legal
right to discuss it. This is MY life, and I am a witness to and victim
of crimes no one seems to want to do anything about (though last I knew
there is an open criminal case against him in Sangamon County). I have
over 2 feet of documents and hours of wav. files to back me up and the
alleged illegal behaviors I write about here have been reported to the
FBI, the Attorney General's office in Illinois, the State's Attorney of
Sangamon County and the Springfield Police, the Ashtabula County, Oh,
Sheriff and prosecutor, the Sangamon County, IL, Sheriff, and are part
of various court records. It is my layman's opinion that Dean West is a
sociopath, based on observed and documented behaviors. "Oh
what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive." As a
good citizen of the USA, I am outraged that Mr. West has been allowed to
victimize me. His modus operandi is so clear. He uses his current
female victim/s to help him get away with what he did to the last one.
The domestic violence community is missing the boat on that aspect:
women who stay in abusive relationships are sick. Allowing them to
determine public policy and prosecution does not protect the public.
Most men who beat women do not murder, they simply move on to the next
recently, Mr. West was charged with Domestic Violence against yet
another female partner/director of the "foundation" (but she didn't show
up at the trial and Judge Sanchez wouldn't grant the prosecutor a
continuance to find her!) and just prior to that was on probation for
resisting a peace officer, which started out as assault of a police
officer. I know there is a warrant out for him violating the RO of one
of his net victims in Paterson, New Jersey and there is a felony warrant
for him out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota right now also for a sixth
degree felony, violation of a stalking restraining order. Any questions?
